Energy Shapes Number 2 seeks to create alien melodies, rhythms, and colors through the interplay of unusually tuned electric guitar and FM synthesizer.

The composition began life as a numerical ratio - 17:11:8. This ratio is realized via time signature progressions, polyrhythms subtle and overt, harmonic ratios which are approximated with quarter tones, and frequency modulation synthesis ratios. Such abstraction is used in order to balance novelty and coherence.
